Frequently Asked Questions

School is Cool volunteers

A. In 2022, the program donated 2,729 packs, but the need continues to grow. Current figures from Poudre School District indicate that of the approximately 30,000 students in the district, about 30 percent are eligible for the free and reduced lunch program. That’s roughly 8,200 students throughout kindergarten through 12th grade. In today’s economy, your help has never been more crucial.

A: Backpacks are filled with an average of 13 items ranging from crayons to three-ring binders to paper products to scissors. We are very fortunate to partner with the Colorado State University Bookstore, as their contacts allow School is Cool to receive many donated items and we are able to buy in bulk at discounted prices. A: The School Is Cool packs are delivered directly to the school principals or counselors. We trust they know their student population and give to those students who need them most.

A: Some schools prefer to receive supplies without a backpack, which allows them to stretch your dollars and help more children. All the excess supplies we have each year are donated to PSD so educators have access to school supplies throughout the school year.
